When Did I Stop Enjoying Video Games?

NEW YORK - APRIL 17: XBox 360 video games are ...

This is definitely an off topic post, but I was sitting here looking at my hounds just aching to head out for a nice walk and I started to think to myself - when did I go from having countless xbox hard drives filled up with countless games and playing hours and hours of video games.. to wanting nothing more than a nice relaxing walk with my beagles?

You know, now that I think about it.. it was pretty much when I purchased a house I think. Your priorities change when you do something like that.. instead of sleeping in all day and doing nothing on the weekend and considering that your break time.. You end up spending most of your weekend cleaning perhaps, improving, spending time with loved ones. I guess it's really not that bad, hell I certainly don't miss it one little bit. Truthfully I think that most kids need to spend a lot LESS time on video games and more time out playing and having fun... how about with you pets? (see how i turned that into a pet related post?)

Happy New Year!!

January 4, 2011 12:29 am

Well I hope everyone reading this had a great holiday season and that Santa found you all! I know here in PEI (yes.. I write this from PEI, not NFLD where it's hosted) - Santa did find us, and found my two hounds Hunter and Bella as well!

This year we got some gifts that we likely won't ever use like rain boots for them and some jackets (there's just something about putting a jacket on a hound that I don't particularly like.. heh heh).. anyhow, they did get lots of great rawhide treats, marrow bones laced with nice spices, squeaker toys  and treats, lots of treats.

Actually one of their more popular toys which I thought was cool was this game Liz found for them at Winners. I'm not sure who makes it, but it was pretty slick - we would put a treat in the board, and the hounds would have to use their noses and brains to get at it. Ahhh... food, is there anything else that motivates a hound more than that?

Talk soon everyone!

We Sure Have It Easy Now As Far As Shopping Goes

December 24, 2010 12:37 pm

Although the malls and stores around Christmas time are absolutely ridiculously crowded, it’s hard to really feel bad for people that are going out and complaining as now they have so many options. Namely.. the Internet!

I remember a few years back, I bought almost everything online and everyone I knew either didn’t realize the benefits, or just didn’t know what I was talking about.

The best part about online shopping is the convenience – for example if needed to get someone some briggs parts for their automotive needs – I could just browse over to their site, find the exact part number I need (they have over 1,500,000 parts in stock which you can’t find in any local store for sure), order it up and be done in minutes! Most of these stores also offer great service as they know there’s lots of competition out there so they have online help and live chat features.

Obviously online shopping is the preferred method – however the only problem I have is the ‘immediate’ impact of purchasing something local. There’s something about being able to hold an item, check it out, feel it or whatever – and then making an immediate purchase (such as the case for my dog treats!).

Perhaps something revolutionary will be in the works for 2011.. only time will tell.

Merry Christmas everyone!
