It Feel Great To Give, Plus Great Karma!

July 27, 2010 2:27 pm

It’s no secret that I like to give to the Humane Societies in my life – both with this one at Heavenly Creatures, and with the PEI Humane Society over here in PEI.

The best way for me to give back to Heavenly Creatures over there in NFLD is to do this blog, help out with the web site, and also donate some cash via the monthly Golden Wings program.

Over here in PEI, I volunteer for the PEIHS as much as I can – doing web work as well as being part of the marketing committee here as well which is a great way to start, but I’m always looking to do more. I run the Facebook page as well as the Twitter page but they’re relatively quiet as well.

Something I did yesterday which I’m quite proud of and encourage others to do is I dropped off my beagles old toys that they no longer use and just sit around to the PEIHS! Let’s face it, those dogs are bored – so by giving them some toys to play with, gnaw on, chase around – well that makes me feel good. If you have any that your dog or cat have become bored with – donate them! If you don’t have any, consider having a yard sale or something where you could perhaps sell used books or your old used clothes and donate that to them.

The animals really appreciate it – and that kind of good karma doesn’t go unnoticed.

I’m a big fan of Humane-Type non-profit organizations. Heavenly Creatures being one of my favorites, as you know from a previous post, I donate the proceeds from advertising on this blog to Heavenly Creatures via a monthly ‘Gold Membership’. These memberships are important as they create a steady income and reliable (hopefully) income for the charity.

I try to make the blog as popular and as relevant as I can, but it certainly helps when you have things like a free seo service and people whom click on the ads they see on the site. It really takes only a few seconds, but it really helps the animals which is extremely important.

You can find out more about the Guardian Angel Program here, but I’ve included some information as well in case you didn’t want to click :-) (saving it for the ads I hope).

Heavenly Creatures does not receive any government funding; it operates solely on private donations from concerned citizens and local businesses. The Guardian Angel Program provides a steady income for Heavenly Creatures’ basic foster care expenses – pet food, supplies and veterinary bills. Under this program, sponsors pledge a monthly contribution which ensures that a homeless animal is kept in our foster care program until a loving home is found.
Through their generous contributions, our Guardian Angels earn their wings by giving a homeless pet a new lease on life.

There are four levels to the Guardian Angel Program:

–––Click this button to donate by PayPal–––

Your donation of $9.99 a month (approx. $120 yearly) ensures that a homeless pet enjoys the care and comfort of a foster home while awaiting adoption. Your donation will ensure your sponsored pet receives basic supplies, such as food, toys, a litter box, flea treatment. Along with the knowledge that you’ve saved a life, you will also receive a charitable tax receipt and an official Silver Wings Guardian Angel certificate. In addition, you will be publicly thanked online at Heavenly Creatures’ website.

Your donation of $19.99 a month (approx. $240 yearly) not only provides foster care for a homeless pet, but also allows us to obtain basic veterinarian care, such as deworming, and testing. Along with the knowledge that you’ve saved a life, you will also receive a charitable tax receipt and an official Golden Wings Guardian Angel certificate. In addition, you will be publicly thanked in our list of sponsors online at Heavenly Creatures’ website.

Your donation of $29.99 a month (approx. $360 yearly) provides us with the means to keep a homeless pet in foster care until a forever home is found. As well, a portion of your contribution goes into our Spay and Neuter Program. This program enables us to take an active role in preventing pet overpopulation – and can help a pet to get adopted more quickly. Along with the knowledge that you’ve saved a life, you will also receive a charitable tax receipt and an official Platinum Wings Guardian Angel certificate. In addition, you will be publicly thanked in our list of sponsors online at Heavenly Creatures’ website. You will also receive a free Heavenly Creatures t-shirt and a free one-year membership, which includes a subscription to our quarterly newsletter.

Heavenly Halo sponsors provide lots of everything! Your contribution of $49.99 monthly (approx. $600 yearly) covers a variety of vital needs, including the fostering of multiple animals, the provision of basic medical care, and a donation to our Spay and Neuter Program. For your generous contribution, you will receive a charitable tax receipt and an official Guardian Angel Heavenly Halo plaque. In addition, your company logo and web link will be displayed on the Heavenly Creatures website. You will also receive an official Heavenly Creatures t-shirt and a free one-year membership, which includes a subscription to our quarterly newsletter. An article on you or your firm will be featured in our “Sponsor Spotlights.” Finally, in recognition of your contribution, you will be given VIP status for future Heavenly Creatures special events, such as free tickets to the annual Heavenly Creatures Fur Ball.

Why I Donate – A Video To Watch

8:38 am

While most companies (including my work right now) go to great lengths to get people to donate to the United Way, or Cancer Societies, or Hospitals to get new wings on their buildings, or new bariatric exam tables for their patients.. I never really ‘bite’ on donating to them.

It’s certainly not that they aren’t good causes or that they aren’t deserving or requiring donations.. it’s just that I like to donate to help my furry friends whom can’t do the fundraising themselves, or even think about it. They are put on this planet to be a companion to someone who loves them, and when I see videos like the following.. it breaks my heart.

This people, is why I donate to the PEI Humane Society, and Heavenly Creatures.. watch the video.
