Happy New Year!!

January 4, 2011 12:29 am

Well I hope everyone reading this had a great holiday season and that Santa found you all! I know here in PEI (yes.. I write this from PEI, not NFLD where it's hosted) - Santa did find us, and found my two hounds Hunter and Bella as well!

This year we got some gifts that we likely won't ever use like rain boots for them and some jackets (there's just something about putting a jacket on a hound that I don't particularly like.. heh heh).. anyhow, they did get lots of great rawhide treats, marrow bones laced with nice spices, squeaker toys  and treats, lots of treats.

Actually one of their more popular toys which I thought was cool was this game Liz found for them at Winners. I'm not sure who makes it, but it was pretty slick - we would put a treat in the board, and the hounds would have to use their noses and brains to get at it. Ahhh... food, is there anything else that motivates a hound more than that?

Talk soon everyone!

Survey Says…Santa loves Pooches more than Kitties

December 10, 2010 10:04 pm

Accourding to a survey conducted by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Corporate Communications, 57% of Dog owners will purchase Christmas presents for their pets this year (conversely, only 48% of Cat owners will purchase gifts).

Interestingly enough, the percentages of pet-owners giving gifts to their pets has increased over the last two years over 10%...who says that the economy is tough when it comes to offering a loving gift for your pets.
I am a firm believer that pet presents does not necessarily be tangible, but perhaps spending a little more love and attention their way.  They are often forgotten about on their birthdays, so send some extra love their way on the 25th.

Of course, don't forget that another option this Christmas, and that giving a gift that is sure to make all animals smile (no, its not another bathrobe, or a mens ties), but it will make you feel warm inside: The Gift Of Life!  Not all pets are as lucky as ours, and many animals will spend the holidays trying to survive on the cold streets.

Why not send a gift donation and help save a homeless animal's life instead?

November 8, 2010 12:53 pm

So now that Halloween is over and we've put away the costumes of pirates, Freddy Krueger and men wearing prom dresses - it's time to start thinking about the next big holiday... Christmas!!

Heavenly Creatures will be hosting their annual Pet Pics with Santa this year at St. Theresa's Church on Mundy Pond Road.
Santa will be there from noon to 8 pm on Dec. 4 and  Dec 5.

Walk-ins welcome; appointments reccommended.

Only $20 for two 5 x 7s of your pet; additional pets only $10!
Call us at 739-0077 or email us at info@heavenlycreatures.ca to book your appointment!

Santa hats provided for the photo shoot.

We will also be accepting donations at this time - this Christmas, we are most in need of wet cat food and cat litter. Though perhaps a 'less glamorous' donation, this is one of our greatest needs.

Thanks very much, hope to see you all there!

Christmas Is Coming!

November 4, 2010 11:42 pm

So Halloween is over.. it's November 5th and right around the corner it's going to be December and with that, comes all the gift-wrapping, busy malls, photo holiday cards, and let's not forget the great food that we're going to be eating!

My question to you now is, are you ready? Wouldn't you love to be done early and spend the great days leading up to Christmas in your nice warm home surrounded by your pets and loved ones? I know I would, in fact if I remember well it was something that I was going to try to do last year but never got around to it - it was just too difficult unfortunately. So this year, I'm going to try it again.. hell maybe practice makes perfect.

Does Anyone Make Their Own Dog Treats?

November 17, 2009 12:45 am

Well it's Christmas season, and that means that there will be lots of good eats over the coming months.. I can't wait! I'm actually curious if anyone out there has actually ever tried to create their own dog treats and if they've had any success at all. I really think that it'd be a great idea to make your own treats for all your friends pets'. I mean, you know as well as I do.. they're our family!!

Kind of like I'm doing for my close family friends this year, my folks friends I should say. We're all really close, but this year I'm hitting up the stainless steel drums and making our own wine! I really hope it turns out well, cuz if it doesn't.. we're screwed! I want to give them all a bottle of our first wine (if it's any good).. and a card. I think that's a pretty good idea to be honest.

Anyhow, back to Dog Treats.. yeah.. I was thinking when I was making the list of people I have to shop for that I'd need to get treats for my parents dogs, my ex-dog (weird I know), and my brothers dogs.. why not make our own and see if they like them? It's cheap.. and fun, and certainly has that 'personal touch'.
