I’m going to file this one under ‘what took you so long?’, but nevertheless – our US government friends have recently launched a new webpage devoted to streamlining the reporting of product safety issues to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The good news is that this also applies to pets! Through this portal you can report if your pet has had any adverse reactions to any food, treat, medicine and you can make it anonymous or not. Great idea!!
Who Should Submit a Safety Report?
Organizations and people in certain professional roles, such as the following, may be required by law to submit safety reports under some circumstances.
- Food Manufacturers, Processors, Packers, and Holders
- Researchers
- Drug Manufacturers
Others, including concerned citizens, health professionals, and public
health officials, may voluntarily submit reports if they encounter
safety issues with a product and/or unanticipated harmful
effects that they believe are related to a product.
Learn more about mandatory and voluntary reporting.
I wonder if this will make for some cheap health insurance in the future? I mean – we’re doing all the research and investigation ourselves! Somehow I doubt it.
